Culture

Beyond Tokyo's energy and bright lights lies another kind of Japan. Within a historic ryotei, culture is not something to rush through or simply photograph — it is something to enter slowly, at its natural pace.

Living

Geisha, koto, shamisen, daikagura — performed a few feet from your table, in the same rooms that have received guests for nearly a century.

Family Celebrations

Celebrate Your Child's
Milestones in Tokyo

For generations, Japanese families have marked a child's growth with a formal meal at a ryotei. Now your family can share these tender ceremonies — welcomed, and guided entirely in English, within a house that has celebrated life since 1931.

01

OkuizomeFirst-Meal Ceremony · 100th Day

Around a baby's hundredth day, families hold okuizome — a first meal wishing "may you never go hungry in life." A celebratory sea bream, a first-meal tray and a tooth-hardening stone are set before the baby, and our staff guide every step, unhurried and in English.

02

Shichi-Go-SanThe Rite of Three, Five & Seven

At ages three, five and seven, children give thanks for growing up in good health. In our in-house Shinto shrine we hold a private blessing for your family alone, present chitose-ame, and serve a seasonal feast — with kimono and photography arranged in one place.

A Taste of Japanese Time

Taste the Season.
Experience the Craft.

Japanese cuisine here is more than a meal — it is carefully selected ingredients, generations of culinary skill, and a deep respect for the changing seasons. Food is not rushed; it is prepared with patience, served at the right moment, and enjoyed slowly. Your celebration is set to a seasonal kaiseki table, with signature courses served in your private room.

水炊き

MizutakiSignature Chicken Hot Pot

Our most iconic dish — a pale golden broth drawn over many hours from carefully selected chicken. Rich, yet clean; comforting, yet refined.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

01Can we come with a baby or small children?

Absolutely — these celebrations are made for exactly that. Every meal is served in a private tatami room, so there is no need to worry about a crying baby. A bouncer, high chair, diaper-changing space and a nursing room are all available.

02Will your staff guide us through the okuizome ceremony?

Yes. In English, our staff explain each step — the meaning of the tooth-hardening stone, who should hold the chopsticks first, and the order of the ritual — so first-time families can relax and simply enjoy the moment.

03Can we hold a Shinto blessing for Shichi-Go-San on site?

Yes. We have an in-house Shinto shrine where a private blessing is held for your family alone, with chitose-ame ("thousand-year candy") presented afterward. There is no travel between venues — the blessing takes place just before or after your meal.

04Do you offer children's meals, and can you handle allergies or baby food?

We prepare children's meal sets in three tiers to suit each age and appetite. Please share any allergies or dietary needs in advance and we will prepare dedicated dishes. We are also glad to warm baby food on request.

05Can we rent and wear kimono for the celebration?

Yes. We can arrange kimono rental together with dressing and hair styling for children and mothers, and a private changing room is available on site.

06Can you arrange a photographer?

Yes. A professional photographer can capture your family against our seasonal garden and tatami rooms. Photographs are delivered as high-resolution digital files.

07How many guests can join, and is this suitable for three generations?

These celebrations are ideal for gathering grandparents, parents and children together. Our private rooms accommodate small family groups up to larger parties, so three-generation celebrations are very welcome.

08Do you have English-speaking staff and an English menu?

Yes. We have English-speaking staff, and English menus are available. Shoes are removed at the entrance and our staff will look after them, so please wear socks.
